A noun put simply , is a thing person or place.
For an example:
The cat ate the rat.
The cat sat on the mat
The cat killed my maths teacher
I really like cats.

There are many types of nouns , such as possessive, countable , non-countable , collective ,etc.

Countable nouns are those that can be plural and more than one
For example : "My cats are hungry"

Non-countable nouns are those that cannot be counted seperately
For example : We do not pronounce rice as 'rices' but instead , sacks of rice or a sack of rice.

Proper nouns are basically names which can be used by a capital letter for the word
For example : Steve , September , Christian

Common nouns are the opposite of proper nouns , and are refer to general things or places
For example : Friends , road , doors.

Possessive nouns are those with an 's or ' added to show possession
For example : Stefanie's cake , Mary's pencil

Compound nouns are two nouns that are combined to form one word
For example :classroom, bookmarks.
